Behind the Scenes of our First Product Shoot with Lolabean Photography

Yesterday was a big day for our little company. Our very first photo shoot with a real photographer.

Way back in April, HMF attended a networking session for female entrepreneurs in Toronto. From that meeting Spark was born:

Spark on Facebook

A solid group of women, forging a path for themselves in the small business world. We share ideas, triumphs, set backs and contacts. A perfect little network of support and inspiration. This is where we met the delightful Natalie Balen-Cinelli of Lolabean Photography.

Natalie is a working mother of two, and an amazing photographer working in the GTA. Browse through her gallery and check out some of her work! incredibly talented, and the patience of a saint: not every photographer can handle working with 6 children whose ages range from 3 months to 3 years, plus parents, plus two demanding clients, and a couple of cats for good measure!

We brought out the big guns to keep these kids entertained!

The goal of this session is to create some really strong shots of our products on child (and infant) models to use on our etsy site as well as future advertising/signage/etc..  We used various backdrops, both indoors and out with all kinds of staging and props. And of course, some nutty, loveable, unpredictable, but unbelievable kids:

A team effort: Natalie shooting, Mary blowing bubbles, Marta primping

There were some definite bribes involved. Bubbles. Kitties. And Cupcakes.

Just a finger full of icing?

Pros.

What you can't see is the kids chanting over and over "these are letters!"

I've read about it happening in all the gossip magazines and websites... it's easy to fall in love on set:

There are so many people to thank for making this day possible. Firstly to Natalie, for making the long drive, bringing all of our ideas to life and helping make our dreams come true. To Michelle and Marta for lending us your children, your time and your adult hands to help with wardrobe changes and positioning and everything else we asked you to do all day! To Adelaide and James; Henry, Clara and Ethan & Lucas for being such sweet sweet models and incredibly well-behaved on such a long hot day. To Paul for putting in a full shift of child-wrangling before a full shift at work (and for wearing that tie all day long!). To Ginger and Rye Ball for being troopers with little hands poking and swatting at you. And to Linda, for taking care of everyone's needs, behind the scenes the way you always do. We love you all and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Can't wait until we can share the results with you. It is so exciting to watch a vision come to life!

Love,

HMF <3
